WHY THIS PLACE IS NEEDED
War has fractured trust, rhythm and belonging. The Church can help rebuild all three.
Green Harbor is designed as a permanent place for multi-day retreats, formation, family support and supervised activities. Prayer, friendship, trustworthy adults, healthy daily rhythms and the healing quality of an ordered natural environment are brought together with clear professional boundaries.
This is not simply a building project. It is infrastructure for hope.

Clergy, religious, educators, psychologists, catechists and trained lay leaders working within clear roles.

FROM DISPLACEMENT TO WELCOME
Green Harbor is meant to become a path from fear to safety, and from isolation to community.
These visual narratives show the heart of the mission: children and families carrying the burden of war, then arriving in a place of peace, welcome and pastoral care. Green Harbor is conceived as exactly this kind of refuge.

THE PLACE
A landscape that invites silence, movement, encounter and renewal.
Kytaihorod lies in the Dniester region, close to the dramatic canyon landscape and Bakota. Here nature is not decoration: it becomes a setting for prayer, outdoor education, responsible recreation and the rebuilding of emotional resilience.
THE SPIRITUAL HEART
The church is not beside the project. It is at its heart.
The pastoral village grows around the existing parish church. Eucharist, reconciliation, Scripture, silence and community life give Green Harbor a clear ecclesial identity.

THE VISION
Nine houses. One common home. One community.
A human-scale village is planned around a shared green: nine compact residential cabins, a Common House for meals and formation, safe paths and community space — all connected to the parish church.

The layout keeps the historic church visually and spiritually central while the houses face the common lawn.

Warm timber, restrained forms and generous glazing create a calm relationship with the landscape.

Meals, catechesis, dialogue, workshops, listening and decisions come together under one roof.
Architectural visualisations are conceptual and will be refined through professional design, permits and technical verification.
WHO GREEN HARBOR WILL SERVE
Children and young people first. Families and communities around them.
Priority will be given to children and young people affected by war, displacement, loss or economic hardship, as well as families needing pastoral support, rest and renewed community ties.

Green Harbor links care for people with care for our common home: energy-efficient construction, responsible water use, durable materials, biodiversity, simple living and ecological education integrated into daily life.

PARTNERSHIP AT EYE LEVEL
Not donor and recipient. One shared responsibility.
The local Church contributes land, pastoral leadership, people, implementation and long-term responsibility. International Church partners can contribute targeted capital, experience and technical dialogue. The goal is a relationship that lasts beyond one construction grant.

estimated cost of one complete residential cabin. Every donation matters — every amount is welcome.
A visible sign of lasting partnership
By written agreement, a cabin may carry the honorary name of a supporting diocese or Church partner. Partners may also finance part of a cabin, the Common House, infrastructure, ecological systems, accessibility, safeguarding or equipment.
